Provincial The provincial government will pay an annual fee to the operator beginning June 2011 that will increase to $19.8 million, adjusted for inflation, once the design-build work is complete.

Description:

This project involves the design and construction of 55 km of new highway between Waweig and Lepreau. It will be New Brunswick’s first six-lane highway. Transfield Dexter Gateway Services Limited will be responsible for the operation, maintenance, and rehabilitation (OMR) of 235 kilometres between St. Stephen and River Glade, excluding the Saint John Harbour Bridge, beginning June 1, 2011 and ending in 2040.The project also includes erecting 104 km of wildlife fencing. Construction is underway and completion is scheduled for 2013.
