The Point Lepreau Nuclear Generating Station is the first CANDU-6 reactor to undergo a refurbishment involving the installation of the new calandria tubes in the reactor vessel. Last year this project ranked 18 on the Top 100 list at $1.4 billion. However, due to $1 billion worth of cost overruns, it has moved up several spots to number 13 on this year’s list. The revised timetable has completion targeted for fall 2012.
