Description:

To date, the south tar pond has been remediated. The north pond, from Ferry Street to the north pond narrows, is scheduled to be treated by fall 2012 and the last section in 2013.The project has been on the list since. Under construction, completion is expected in 2014.

    Two points of clarity, firstly the Sydney Tar Ponds Agency is the implimentor on behalf of the Governments of Nova Scotia and Canada who are represented by the Nova Scotia Department of Transportation and Infrastructure Renewal and Public Works and Government Services Canada. The second point is Conestoga-Rovers & Associates is a key player representing both levels of government as the Independent Engineer.
