Appointment to the St. John’s Port Authority – Transport Canada

OTTAWA — The Honourable Chuck Strahl, Minister of Transport, Infrastructure and Communities, today announced the appointment of Mr. Michael Crosbie of St. John’s, Newfoundland and Labrador, to the board of directors of the St. John’s Port Authority, effective January 1, 2011.

Government of Canada Donates Marine Simulators to Newfoundland and Labrador – Transport Canada

OTTAWA — On behalf of the Honourable Denis Lebel, Minister of Transport, Infrastructure and Communities, the Honourable Peter Penashue, Minister of Intergovernmental Affairs and President of the Queen’s Privy Council of Canada, today announced the Government of Canada has transferred two marine training simulators to the Province of Newfoundland and Labrador, along with federal funding of $1,233,253 for the province to modernize the simulators.

The Government of Canada Invests Close to $15 Million in its Airports of the North Shore and in Schefferville – Transport Canada

SEPT-ILES (Quebec) – Today, the Honourable Denis Lebel, Minister of Transport, Infrastructure and Communities, announced during a visit to Sept-Îles a $15 million investment in six airports on the North Shore and Lower North Shore and in Schefferville, to keep the facilities safe and in operational condition and ensure the efficient pursuit of airport activities.

Canada and Europe Enhance Aviation Safety with New Agreement – Transport Canada

OTTAWA — The Government of Canada today announced that an aviation safety agreement with the European Union came into force on July 26, 2011. The Government of Canada has been working closely with its European counterpart to ratify the Agreement on Civil Aviation Safety. The agreement will make reciprocal acceptance of aeronautical products and services easier, reducing costs for Canadian companies and increasing competitiveness.
