Heat causes work stoppage at CHUM hospital site

Excessive heat with little room for relief caused more than 1,000 workers to halt activities on Wednesday.

According to a CBC News report, workers sought relief from the heat after warmer temperatures caused poor air quality, especially on the project’s upper floors.

The workers returned to their job hours later, after officials announced that the projects air conditioning system would be functional within a few days.

Completion of the CHUM superhospital in Montreal was originally targeted for the spring, but delays will mean that the hospital is not likely to be ready until later this fall.
