The new hospital will replace the existing 160-bed Oak Ridge Facility and the 20-bed Brebeuf Facility, and will consolidate mental health services into a more efficient and integrated complex. The Oak Ridge building was constructed in 1933, and the Brebeuf in 1967. The site had previously held a variety of other mental health, corrections, and military facilities.

The new building will be open for patient care in March 2014 and is expected to achieve LEED-Gold certification.
