The Vancouver Island Health Authority and British Columbia’s Ministry of Health have released a request for qualifications for the construction of two new hospitals. The North Island Hospitals Project will see hospitals constructed in Campbell River and Comox Valley.
Both facilities will be constructed under one $600 million funding envelope through a design build finance maintain model. Construction is scheduled to start in 2013 and should be completed in 2017. The provincial government will provide 60 per cent of the funding and the Comox Strathcona Regional Hospital District will fund the remainder.
