The Government of Nunavut has announced the release of a request for qualifications for the international airport in Iqaluit to be upgraded. The project will include the construction of a new airport building, expanding the aprons for plane parking, new lighting systems, runway upgrades, and a new building to house the fire-fighting/support equipment and associated heavy equipment.
“The Government of Nunavut is excited to be moving forward with this phase of the Iqaluit International Airport Improvement Project, which marks the start of the work necessary to design and build this new airport,” said Minister of Community and Government Services, Lorne Kusugak. “This new airport will enhance the transportation infrastructure in Nunavut and will provide innovative design and functional accessibility.”
Preliminary costs have yet to be determined, but should become more clear after this stage of the project.
