SAFETY ENHANCED ON VEDDER CANAL BRIDGES
CHILLIWACK – The Province is taking immediate action to further enhance the safety of Vedder Canal Bridges on the Trans-Canada Highway south of Chilliwack, Transportation and Infrastructure Minister Shirley Bond announced.
Highway 20 closed east of Drayton Valley
Motorists are advised that Highway 20 near Breton has been closed following a motor vehicle collision. Traffic has been detoured at Township Roads 480 and 482. The highway is expected to reopen to traffic within 24 hours. Motorists are advised to use alternate routes.

Alberta and Northwest Territories advance cooperation during meeting in Edmonton
The governments of Alberta and Northwest Territories met in Edmonton August 31 to discuss the economy, environment, tourism, transportation and energy.
Alberta Minister of Finance and Enterprise Ted Morton and Northwest Territories Deputy Premier and Minister of Finance Michael Miltenberger are co-chairs of the Northwest Territories-Alberta Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) for Cooperation and Development Steering Committee and meet on a regular basis. The MOU gives both jurisdictions the opportunity to discuss cross-boundary issues and their impacts.

MONT-JOLI — Today, Daniel Petit, Member of Parliament for Charlesbourg—Haute-Saint-Charles, on behalf of the Honourable Chuck Strahl, Minister of Transport, Infrastructure and Communities, announced that airports in Quebec will again benefit from a Government of Canada investment in important safety upgrades. This investment is part of the Airports Capital Assistance Program (ACAP).
Paving reduces lanes on Highway 1 in and around Medicine Hat
Motorists can expect lane closures and speed limit reductions on Highway 1 within Medicine Hat and east of the city.
Paving is underway on the highway’s westbound lanes from east of Irvine to Medicine Hat. Traffic will be reduced to one lane at various times and the speed limit will be reduced to 80 km/h through the construction zone.
Chip-seal coating disrupts Queen Elizabeth II Highway traffic north of Airdrie
Motorists can expect delays, lane closures and speed reductions on the Queen Elizabeth II Highway north of Airdrie.
Chip-seal coating work began Aug. 30 and will extend 12 kilometres from north of Highway 567 to south of Acme Road. The speed limit will be reduced to 80 km/h through the construction zone. Line painting will follow, with construction work completed by Sept. 3, weather permitting.
