The new natural gas power facility will use combined-cycle technology to provide up to 370 megawatts (MW) of power to roughly 370,000 homes in Saskatchewan, particularly when wind and solar power are not available. As of Oct. 31, 2024, the project is 27 per cent complete. All 1,350 piles are installed and the site’s evaporation pond is also almost complete. Work has begun on building foundations and underground utilities, which continued through the winter months into 2025.
