The City of Toronto is upgrading its bus fleet, thanks in part to federal funding to help make the project a reality. In total, the City will purchase 1,043 new buses to help green its fleet, as well as refurbish 695 additional vehicles.
As part of the acquisition, the City is testing electric buses from three companies, New Flyer Industries Ltd., Proterra Inc. and BYD Canada Co. Ltd., to test the vehicles to see which ones its drivers prefer. The City was set to take delivery of 60 total buses by the end of the first quarter of 2020.
